I travel basically every week, so I’ve definitely optimized my approach towards getting to my plane on time the most efficient way as possible. I travel with just carry on luggage, thanks to the US large carry on allowance being way more then home. This enables me to get in and out more quickly at airports. I check in online before hand so I can avoid any lines at the airport. I try to fly Continental when I can as I get priority access to security as well as seating, so this ensures I get my carry on on the plane.
However, when I want to take photos I need to take my tripod, and I have to squeeze this into my luggage. Until today, about 1 in 3 times security will re-scan my bag because of the tripod. At Cedar Rapids airport, one of the smallest airports I’ve been at, not only did they rescan my bag, they then decided they had to inspect my bag, they had to take out my tripod (which is squeezed in), they had to take it out if it’s case, and then rescan it. Then of course I have to repack my bag. So I’m standing in line, and I hear my name specifically called for the flight, cutting it very fine.
The question is? How can I fly though the largest airports and not have an issue at security, and then at another I do. Doesn’t seem very consistent.

I’m in Chicago this weekend. Today I headed out with my old friend Mary, her husband Steve and a number of friends on a Mystic Blue Cruise. Our trip left from the Navy Pier and included dinner, sunset and night views of the Chicago skyline and a fireworks show. This evening was also to include a Venetian Boat Parade but we were not able to see it. You can check out my photos here.
You can download an original size print quality images from here. Click on image, then All Sizes, then Original Size.

Question: Where does the real photo end and the reflection begin.
BTW: I’m in the photo in the top right corner (taking this picture).
To give you a better perspective of this wedding party check out this image.
This are images from the Millennium Park in Chicago. I have a lot more reflections to upload when I get a moment.
Here are some more cool reflection images.

Today I arrived in St Louis ,Missouri for a weekend stopover before heading next week to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The most notable icon is The Gateway Arch which is a clear icon from quite a distance away.
I managed to goto the top of the Arch. When I was getting a ticket the schedule for next available tickets was 7:50pm, however as I was a single I was able to get a ticket immediately for the 6:50pm. Ironically, this was rather lucky as later in the evening there was a failure and Visitors trapped in Arch.

With my new iPhone and previous my iPod and with 30 free iTune songs from Avis, I’m wanting to know what new songs I like. Problem is when you hear a song you may not know the artist, or get the details. I was told last week about Pandora. This is a music genome project that allows you to create your own radio station, and provides songs and artists matching a song that you like, the goal to hopefully find like songs to the tastes you presently have. It’s rather cool!
Thanks Yao!

On Friday night I went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I was very impressed. From 6pm Friday you can enter with a donation rather then the normal admission. However after one evening I’m prepared to get a year membership.
There were some clear highlights no to mention just walking around the building:
You can see the full highlights of all my photos here

On Friday night I went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and to my surprise there was a Rooftop Garden. What is impressive is that there is a view of New York and Central Park. I’m so going to visit this location again. Just need to find somebody to take with me!

This week at work I bought a bottle of water called “Smart Water”. I don’t know if this means the water is smarter then other water, or whether it makes you smarter? I guess further testing will be required.

15 seconds after I’d written Cool Product - OQO my flatmate jokes about my line “Doesn’t beat my iPhone”. Seriously 15 seconds, I hadn’t even gone to my website to read it myself. That’s a devoted reader.
5 minutes later I don’t know what the laughing is, I find out “no books are required in the bathroom”. He took his OQO to the toilet. His comment “it allows for one hand scrolling”.
Man, that made me laugh a lot for a few minutes writing this.
My flatmate just go an OQO and he hasn’t stopped raving about it.
A small PDA type device, however it runs a full version of Windows XP, has a full keyboard, mouse and keypad, a screen of 800 x 480 and build-in Wi-Fi and wireless broadband that can be connected to a telephone provider. Apparently with Skype installed you could then use it as a phone. He just tested it as we were talking to see if it had a built-in mic. I must admit even I’m impressed. Something I’ll need to play with a little more. Doesn’t beat my iPhone however for the cool alpha geek, in your pocket sized being able to show my photos & view the web device.
